We always head north on this island and decided we needed to switch it up and explore the south a little more. And wouldn't you know, someone had recently told me about Cape Kyan on the southern most tip of Okinawa where there was castle ruins and a war memorial to the Japanese soldiers and Okinawans who committed suicide by jumping off the cliff during the final combats of the war.
After many years of weathering the beaming light from the sky, it's a bit sun faded.
Hidden on the back side of the monument we found this.
Next we visited the castle ruins. It must have belonged to a not so well off royal family. The outline made by the piled up rocks made a tiny royal house. But it was waterfront property so maybe they couldn't afford a bigger castle.
While we were down south, we decided to stop by the Ashibinaa Outlet Stores. This, I just knew being an outlet, tourists hot spot catering to different shapes of people from around the world, would be the place I could unleash my pent up shopping desires. I would be able to twirl around in front of the dressing room in a pretty little dress that I'd have no where to wear but would have to have. Maybe some new sandals to show off my painted toes for Cocok's. I had high expectations when I thought I might find a pair of those rare jeans that would make my lower half look amazing.Instead I ended up feeling like a giant. And poor. And in my non-shopping despair, I went to the food court and stuffed my face with tacos and ice cream crepes. I just want to say in my defense, in my American world I'm just average across the board. It's hard to come to another country and be rejected by the clothes.
