Red Carpet Event

I'm going to try and (slowly, because that's how I work) fill in the blanks.  A couple Friday nights ago, the Girl Scouts held a Red Carpet Event at the Rocker.  Each Girl Scout was allowed to pick a special person (over 18) to accompany them to this event.  Special.  I know all of you just assume Caitlin would pick me for her special person because I'm just...  so... special.  Nope.  Marcus got the honors.

 

They got fed, danced, sang and Caitlin even won a gift certificate to Cocok's.

 

Chloe didn't do too bad with the left over special  person (me).  We went out to eat, treated ourselves to ice cream and got a movie to watch.

Off To Yoron Island

Not me, or Marcus, or Caitlin.  Just Chloe, a few of her school mates and other fifth graders from different military base schools around the island. For five days and four nights, she'll be mingling with fifth graders from mainland Japan and Indonesia while frolicking on the beach, exploring caves and having dragon boat races.  A little pre-spring break vacation for her.

 

Someone was extremely sad to see her playmate go.  Waking up at 4:30am to get Chloe to the meeting point at 6am didn't help her feel any better.

 

Her day got better, starting with a stop at Starbucks.  Bowling.  Watching Hotel for Dogs at the theater.  Then going to Jusco to play arcade games.  We're exhausted!

Annual Azalea Trek

Our annual Azalea photo.  We're on our eigth year of taking pictures in front of an Azalea bush. It sounds a bit silly, but I like it.  It's a tradition we started while living in the Azalea City (Valdosta, Georgia).  We got pretty lucky that they have an Azalea fest on Okinawa too, what are the chances?  Besides making Pumpkin Face pizza for Halloween dinner every year, this is our longest tradition.  Now I just have to hope that every place we move to in the future has Azalea bushes so I can keep getting these pretty pictures every year.

 

 

 

 

Have you noticed a trend with Caitlin's pictures?  It seems like she lost her smile.  She was a happy girl but she just couldn't seem to figure out how to move the lips into the proper position over the mouth today.

 

The Leprechaun Visit

 

It seems the wee little leprechaun got guilted into buying gifts for Caitlin (and Chloe too since you can't just get treats for one kid but not the other) and scurried over to the commissary to find anything sweet and green.

At least they'll have minty, fresh breathe for the next week or so.

Bingo - My Hot Date

So, I had my steaming hot date Friday.  With the Kadena Wine Fest going on just down the road for us, you'd think we waddle down there to sip on wine and be all sophisticated and everything.  Instead, we went to play bingo.  And I won a game.  Me.  I won!  And I didn't even get to yell bingo.  The lady beside me yelled it when my computer bingo thing ring.  That might have been my only chance in life to yell bingo and the joy sucker beside stole my moment.  But, I still won.  Not money.  No,no. I couldn't win money.  I won a coupon for more bingo cards.  Which means I have to have another bingo date, but it was fun so I don't mind.

 

Notice the necklace, it's one of my new ones that I mentioned.

Tomorrow is Saint Patrick's day and Caitlin is expecting a tiny leprechaun to visit leaving behind presents.  I broke it to her that that's just not going to happen, but she's still too excited about St. Patty's day.  The, "Yeah, Mom, whatever you say.  There's a leprechaun out there that's going to bring me great things, maybe even gold", kind of excited.
